Chez Rimbaud

Chez Rimbaud

Me outside the legendary house of ‘Mrs. Smith’, no not Rimbaud or Patti but the landlady who rented the garret to the poets. The plaque indicates they stayed from May-July 1873. As it happened they moved in as late as May 30. Verlaine left on July 3 and Rimbaud a few days later. The drole menage was really only a month, a ‘short let’ in eternity.
